Ken Ofori-Atta, the former Finance Minister, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the committed staff of the Ministry of Finance (MoF), acknowledging their combined accomplishments during his tenure.

In a reflective message, Ofori-Atta lauded the resilience of the MoF team, commending their ability to surmount obstacles and contribute to significant victories for the Republic.

Highlighting the team’s indispensable role, Ofori-Atta credited them for crafting and executing seven Budget Statements that profoundly shaped the nation’s economic trajectory. He praised their unwavering dedication and positive attitude, particularly during times of economic turbulence, emphasizing their commitment to principles such as fiscal responsibility and value for money.

In a sincere letter addressed to MoF staff, Ofori-Atta reminisced about the transformative impact of the three Budgets leading up to 2020, which laid the groundwork for economic recovery and stability. He noted the subsequent shift in focus, with the four Budgets since March 2020 grappling with challenges posed by the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical disruptions.

Expressing appreciation for the collaborative efforts of Team MoF from January 27, 2017, to February 14, 2024, Ofori-Atta highlighted numerous milestones, including the introduction of stimulus packages, enhancements in commitment controls, financial sector restructuring, and landmark partnerships with various organizations.

Despite his recent removal by President Akufo-Addo, Ofori-Atta pointed out the nearly quadrupling of the economy’s size, projecting an optimistic crossing of the GH¢1 trillion mark in the current year. He emphasized ongoing initiatives to position the Ministry for the future, citing improvements in office infrastructure, staff accommodation, and employee engagement programs.
