Ketu South, May 2024 – The unfolding scandal at Somé Senior High School has taken a dramatic turn with the arrest of two additional staff members for their alleged involvement in a food theft ring. The assistant headmistress and a cook join the school’s matron and bursar, who were previously detained, in facing serious charges.
The arrests were made following a tip-off from concerned alumni and assembly members who caught the bursar and matron on Friday evening, May 24, attempting to leave the school premises with bags full of stolen food items. Among the confiscated goods were tin tomatoes, mackerel, cleaning agents, and insecticide spray.
The police, acting on these revelations, subsequently detained the assistant headmistress for further questioning. Initial reports suggest that this illicit activity has been ongoing for a considerable time, raising concerns about the broader impact on the student body.
Law enforcement officials have since visited the school to deepen their investigation, also summoning the storekeeper for questioning. The four suspects are scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, May 27, 2024, as the community awaits justice and anticipates significant reforms in the school’s management practices.
