President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has restated his belief in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s triumph in the upcoming 2024 general elections, affirming that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader, John Dramani Mahama, cannot succeed him as President due to his previous electoral defeats.
Speaking to the chiefs and people of Wa, President Akufo-Addo expressed gratitude for their support during his tenure and disclosed his intention to return to the area with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, as his chosen successor. He clarified that he would not hand over power to Mahama, whom he defeated and ousted from office in 2016, reiterating his commitment to the NPP’s leadership succession plan, which involves Bawumia as his successor.
