President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has thrown his full support behind the ticket of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, expressing his unwavering confidence in their ability to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to victory in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking to journalists following the official confirmation, President Akufo-Addo announced, “The National Council has endorsed the nomination of Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh to be the running mate of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. The NPP has an excellent ticket, and we’re going to win with this ticket on December 7, 2024. The feeling is good; they make a very good pair, and they are going to win.”
On Thursday, July 4, the NPP’s National Council formally endorsed Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known affectionately as NAPO, as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate. Following this endorsement, President Akufo-Addo expressed his enthusiasm for the pairing, praising the duo as an “excellent pairing” and conveying his belief that they will lead the NPP to a resounding victory in the 2024 elections.
During a press briefing in Accra, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong highlighted Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s impressive track record and achievements. He emphasized that the Manhyia South Member of Parliament possesses the qualities necessary to enhance the party’s ticket and boost their chances in the upcoming election. Frimpong also noted Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s reputation for incorruptibility and his bold stances on national issues, which he believes will be instrumental in their campaign.
The NPP expressed strong confidence that Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s skills and integrity will play a crucial role in their strategy for the 2024 general elections, solidifying the party’s position and appeal to voters.
