Pastor Arrested for Fake Kidnapping Extortion Plot, Cites Devil’s Influence
In a startling turn of events, a self-proclaimed man of God, identified as Adegoke Adewuyi, found himself in police custody in Nigeria’s Ekiti State, alongside his alleged accomplice. The arrest transpired while they were residing in a hotel, where they meticulously orchestrated a harrowing scam that left the entire congregation reeling.
Within the confines of the hotel, the pastor and his associate embarked on a deceptive charade, masquerading as if he was being held captive by kidnappers. They audaciously demanded a staggering three million Naira from the unsuspecting church members, exploiting their concern for the pastor’s apparent abduction.
Fate intervened just in time, as the police intervened before the congregation could fulfill their ransom contribution. Pastor Adegoke Adewuyi found himself under arrest, his audacious plot exposed.
Confronted with the gravity of his actions, the man of God attributed his transgressions to the devil’s malevolent influence, acknowledging the enormity of his offense only when he was ensnared by law enforcement.
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) swiftly condemned the conduct of Pastor Adewuyi, denouncing it as ungodly and unscriptural. Rev. Joshua Orikogbe, Chairman of the association, expressed profound disappointment in the scandal, asserting that such behavior tarnishes the reputation of the Christian community.
Shedding further light on the matter, a church member of Pastor Adewuyi disclosed that the embattled cleric had a history of fraudulent activities, including forging signatures to siphon funds from the church’s accounts.
According to the spokesperson of the Ekiti Police Command, ongoing investigations will ultimately determine the fate of the suspects, who are poised to face charges once the inquiry is concluded.
