Nii Lante Vanderpuye, Member of Parliament for Odododiodio under the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has launched a scathing attack on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, accusing him of poor governance and urging him to apologize to Ghanaians for their suffering.
Vanderpuye criticized the President, claiming he lacks a legacy to protect and instead owes Ghanaians an apology for the hardships they have endured under his administration. He went further to predict that Akufo-Addo will be remembered as the worst president in the nation’s history.
“If I were Nana Addo, the best thing I would do as a person is to apologize to the millions of Ghanaians who voted for me and whom I have hugely disappointed. Nana Addo will go into history as the worst president ever in the fourth republic of this country,” Vanderpuye asserted.
Accusing Akufo-Addo of corruption and economic mismanagement, Vanderpuye claimed that the President has presided over the collapse of Ghana’s economy, leading to widespread joblessness and hopelessness among the youth.
He emphasized that Ghanaians are seeking change to erase the alleged negative legacy left by President Akufo-Addo and expressed confidence that John Mahama, the NDC flagbearer, will address the country’s challenges if elected.
In response, President Akufo-Addo urged Ghanaians not to vote for the NDC flagbearer in the upcoming December elections, arguing that electing his predecessor would compromise the progress made during his tenure.
Addressing supporters at a mini rally in Doboro in the Greater Accra region, President Akufo-Addo voiced his support for his Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, as the ideal presidential candidate to continue the trajectory of development initiated by his administration.
The exchange of criticisms between the NDC MP and President Akufo-Addo underscores the heightened political tensions in the run-up to the December elections, with both parties seeking to sway voters with contrasting narratives of governance and progress.
