According to reports, galamsey (illegal mining) kingpin Aisha Huang informed law enforcement investigators that she returned to Ghana after being deported in 2018 because she missed her spouse who lives there.
Inspector Simon Nyaho, the prosecution’s tenth witness in the trial of Aisha Huang, who is being held on immigration and illegal mining charges, told the court yesterday that the accused told officers upon her arrest that she managed to re-enter Ghana through Aflao port and had two Chinese passports.
“When we asked her why she came into Ghana, she stated that she missed her husband, whose name she gave as one Prince Amoah, and that she had come to visit him,” the witness told the court.
Various PassportsInspector Nyaho also told the court that Aisha Huang was arrested with two passports with different names, dates of birth, and locations of birth, despite the fact that both were issued in the Republic of China.
He stated that one of the passports had the name En Huang, a date of birth of July 7, 1986, was issued in Ningxia, China on January 14, 2010, had an expiration date of January 13, 2020, and the location of birth is Nei Mongol.
He stated that the second passport was granted on January 14, 2019 in Fujian, China to Ruixia Huang, who was born on November 7, 1975, and will expire on January 13, 2029.
Inspector Nyaho told the court that the second passport’s place of birth is Fujian, and both passports have the accused person’s image.
Exhibits the witness also testified in court that when Aisha Huang was arrested by Ghana Immigration Service authorities, she had a yellow fever vaccination card, a COVID-19 vaccination card, and a Non-Citizen Ghana Card application form with payment receipts in her hands. “We obtained a court order allowing us to conduct a further search of the accused person’s residence.”
“We also took custody of two metal safes that were previously retrieved from the accused person’s residence by officers of the defence Intelligence,” Inspector Nyaho told the court.
