MTN Ghana Foundation hands over GHS5M Healthcare Block to Bawjiase Polyclinic

The MTN Ghana Foundation has completed and handed over an Accident, Emergency, and Administration block to the Bawjiase Polyclinic, at a cost of GHS 5,475,542.69.

The newly constructed block features state-of-the-art facilities including an operating theater, emergency ward, isolation ward, recovery ward, and resuscitation point. Complementing these are a reception area, offices for administrative staff, and dedicated spaces for medical professionals such as nurses and doctors. The facility also boasts a conference room and a staff kitchenette.

Equipped with essential medical apparatus including hydraulic patient stretchers, hospital beds, anesthesia machines, and patient monitors, the Bawjiase Polyclinic is poised to elevate its healthcare services to the next level.

Situated in the Central Region, the Bawjiase Polyclinic serves not only the local community but also 80 surrounding villages within the Awutu Senya District and beyond. With a patient population exceeding 33,000, the clinic plays a crucial role in providing quality healthcare to residents of the Central Region and parts of the Greater Accra Region.

At the official handover ceremony, Prof. Franklyn Manu, Chairman of the MTN Ghana Foundation, expressed his delight at the completion of the project, emphasizing its potential to alleviate healthcare challenges in the district. “Patients in this community and beyond will receive timely quality care,” he remarked.

Dr. Martina Awo Baisiwa Johnson, the Medical Superintendent of Bawjiase Polyclinic, echoed her appreciation for the Foundation’s support, acknowledging its pivotal role in completing the project. She underscored the significance of the new block in enhancing healthcare delivery within the polyclinic.

High-ranking officials including the Chief Director representing the Minister for Health, the Naakye Ayeley Tetteley 1 Adontsen Hemaa of Awutu Traditional Area, and local dignitaries graced the occasion. Their presence underscored the importance of the MTN Ghana Foundation’s contribution to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and improving access to quality healthcare services nationwide.

As the Bawjiase Polyclinic embraces its enhanced facilities, the community looks forward to reaping the benefits of improved healthcare delivery, made possible through the collaborative efforts of the MTN Ghana Foundation and local stakeholders.
