John Mahama Outlines Economic Growth Plan in Bid for 2024 Presidential Election
Accra, Ghana – John Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has laid out his vision for generating robust economic growth, which includes the creation of critical infrastructure and sustainable employment opportunities aimed at stabilizing the nation’s economy. This ambitious plan forms the centerpiece of Mahama’s bid to lead the country following the 2024 elections.
Addressing a captivated audience during a manifesto presentation held at the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Mahama emphasized the need for practical economic policies designed to alleviate challenges such as escalating public debt, inflation, and the central bank’s financing of the government via the Bank of Ghana.
Mahama’s economic strategy is rooted in the belief that intervention is necessary to counteract the ongoing economic downturn and to restore stability to the nation’s financial landscape. A cornerstone of his plan is the commitment to relieve the inflationary pressures that have eroded the income of ordinary Ghanaians and the nation’s workforce.
As the 2024 elections draw nearer, Mahama’s vision for a more stable, prosperous, and equitable economic future has become a focal point of his campaign, generating both anticipation and discussion among the Ghanaian electorate.
“There must be an end to this decline and the restoration of stability to the economy so that Ghanaian citizens and working people can breathe a sigh of relief and not have their already inadequate income eroded by inflationary pressures.
“In the last few years, I have been outlining policies that the NDC will implement, and the aim is to stop the steep decline in the economy, turn it around, and stabilize it,” he said.
He emphasized that the NDC government performed incredibly well compared to what Ghanaians are now witnessing under the NPP-led government.
