John Mahama Pledges to Revitalize Ghana’s Football Legacy Through Local Talent
In a charismatic address during his Building Ghana Tour in the Northern Region, presidential hopeful John Mahama has vowed to spearhead the reconstruction of Ghana’s national football team if elected as the country’s leader.
Expressing his concerns over the recent lackluster performance of the Black Stars at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Mahama attributed the team’s struggles to the absence of a solid foundation of homegrown players. Addressing members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), he outlined his vision for a revamped national squad with a strong emphasis on nurturing local talent.

“If you bring only foreign players, they don’t play together, they play in their individual teams, and when it’s time for a competition, you bring them together, it won’t work. The core of the Black Stars must be made by domestic players,” Mahama asserted.
