Nigerian chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has been dethroned from her Guinness World Record title for the longest cooking marathon.
Irish Chef Alan Fisher Shatters Guinness World Records for Cooking Marathons
In an astonishing culinary feat, Alan Fisher, an Irish chef and restaurant owner based in Japan, has not only redefined the limits of cooking marathons but also dethroned the reigning Nigerian cooking queen, Hilda Baci, in the Guinness World Records (GWR).
The GWR made it official, proclaiming Alan Fisher as the new record holder. The statement from GWR highlighted his remarkable achievements, stating, “Alan Fisher (Ireland), an owner and chef of a restaurant in Japan, has broken two cooking-related Guinness World Records titles.”
The first record he claimed was the “longest cooking marathon (individual),” which saw him tirelessly cooking for a staggering 119 hours and 57 minutes. This remarkable feat exceeded the previous record held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci by over 24 hours.
Alan’s culinary marathon didn’t stop there. He went on to secure the “longest baking marathon (individual)” title, with an astounding time of 47 hours and 21 minutes. The previous record holder for this category was Wendy Sandner from the USA, with a time of 31 hours and 16 minutes.
What makes Alan Fisher’s achievement even more extraordinary is that he undertook both marathon attempts consecutively. This meant he was in the kitchen for over 160 hours with just a little over a day of rest in between these grueling endeavors.
Hilda Baci, the former record holder, initially set the record for the longest cooking marathon in June, during which she continuously cooked for several days, preparing over 100 pots of food. While her original goal was to reach 100 hours, a minor error related to one of her rest breaks led to a deduction in her total time.
Alan Fisher’s extraordinary culinary prowess has now secured him these prestigious Guinness World Records titles, marking a remarkable chapter in the world of cooking marathons.
