Abraham Kotei Neequaye, president of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), claims that the organization is delaying talks with Seth Gyimah, a Ghanaian boxer based in the United Kingdom, about representing Ghana.
Freezy MacBones must demonstrate to the government that he is committed to fighting for Ghana because he believes the authorities are willing to provide the required help.
Since defeating Darryl Sharp last Saturday at the Copper Boxing Arena in London, the 33-year-old has been making headlines.
Gyimah captured Ghanaians’ attention with his impassioned interview with Joy Sports shortly after his victory over Sharp.
“It was a tough time [for me when I first started boxing] because obviously, we have a lot of great boxers in the UK, and as a village boy travelling all the way from Ghana to start boxing here at the age of 27, a lot of criticism came up,” he added.
“A lot of people questioned my decision to start boxing and asked who would look after me if I got hurt.”
Ghana now has a new light heavyweight sensation on its hands, Seth Gyimah (), who turned pro and defeated Darly Sharp in his debut last night. Freezy appears to be fit and sharp.
