Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, Vice President, has stated his intention to run for flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Dr. Bawumia says he is ready to lead the party to “break the eight.”
According to MyJoyOnline.com sources, he informed the Majority caucus of this during a meeting on Tuesday, May 2.
The NPP has set November 2023 as the date for its presidential primaries.
The primary nomination period will begin on May 26 and end on June 24, 2023.
So far, nine candidates have declared their intention to lead the party.
Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng, former Trades and Industry Minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, and Francis Addai Nimo are among them.
Former Essikado-Ketan MP Joe Ghartey, former NPP general secretary Kwabena Agyepong, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, and former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko round out the list.
