Baffour Gyan revealed that his brother decided to dissolve his marriage to his former spouse after discovering that Gifty Gyan was married to both him (Asamoah) and another man at the same time.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Baffour Gyan said:
“Asamoah Gyan’s wife had been married before and still went ahead to marry him without informing him”
“When Asamoah learned of the situation, he initiated a legal process, seeking an investigation into the matter with the intention of annulling the marriage if it was confirmed that his wife was already married to another man.
“Today, the court reached a verdict, establishing that indeed, Gifty had an existing marriage. Under Ghanaian law, a woman cannot be married to two men simultaneously, so the court officially declared the marriage null and void.
“This turn of events led Asamoah Gyan to question the paternity of his children, leading to his request for a DNA test.
“On October 31, 2023, an Accra High Court delivered its judgment in a three-year divorce dispute involving former Ghanaian international, Asamoah Gyan.”
The court approved the dissolution of the 2013 marriage between Gyan and Gifty, and it was revealed that the DNA test confirmed Asamoah Gyan’s biological paternity of the three children he shares with Gifty Gyan.
The court also ordered Asamoah Gyan to provide his ex-wife, Gifty Gyan, with a monthly sum of twenty-five thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc25,000) for the well-being of their three children. This payment does not cover school fees, medical expenses, dental care, air travel costs, or other associated child-rearing expenditures.
Moreover, Gifty was granted several of her requested benefits, including a four-bedroom house located in Spintex, Accra, ownership of land intended for a fueling station in Prampram, and possession of Asamoah Gyan’s UK residence, along with BMW and Infiniti vehicles.
