Pastor arrested for aiding chief to kidnap, kill, and secretly bury trainee nurse

A pastor is being held by police in Mankessim, in the Central Region, after confessing to helping a local chief kidnap, kill, and secretly bury a 25-year-old nurse trainee.

The body of the student nurse, Georgina Asor Botchwey, was exhumed by the pastor and police investigators on Tuesday, September 20 in the room of the Tufuhen of Ekumfi Akwakrom, Nana Crack.

The chief, who also serves as president of the Mankessim Traders Association, and the pastor, according to information gathered by the media, kidnapped the nurse after engaging in sexual acts with her.

After the events transpired, it is said that the two perpetrators killed the victim and buried her in one of the chief’s apartments.

The pastor was arrested in Cape Coast and admitted to the crime.

He then led the police to the chief’s residence, where the victim’s body was exhumed.

Notices surfaced in Mankessim announcing that the victim was missing. The notice read, “Georgina Botchwey went for an interview at Cape Coast on Wednesday and up till now she cannot be found; her phone is off. Please, anybody with information about her should call 0208503126 or 0247048711.

The victim’s body was found buried nearly three weeks ago. The victim’s bag, shoes, and other possessions were also found at the chief’s house, along with the body.

Residents are requesting that the police take action and ensure that justice is served after the recent incident. Many people are surprised and outraged at what happened, and they want to see the responsible parties be held accountable.

The Mankessim town was thrown into a state of shock with people trooping to see where the body of the trainee nurse was secretly buried.

Cephas Authur, the assemblyman for the area, called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to increase security in Mankessim and its surroundings.

This is not the first time an incident like this has happened in Mankessim, according to him.

“This is the fifth occurrence of this kind of incident this year. I’m requesting that the police take care of the Chief and Pastor,” he said.

The victim’s body has been taken to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital’s mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
