Frimpong highlighted that the Manhyia South Member of Parliament possesses the qualities needed to enhance the party’s ticket and boost their chances of victory in the upcoming election.

Opposition Criticism

However, the selection has not been without controversy. Malik Basintale, Deputy Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), criticized the choice of Dr. Opoku Prempeh as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate. During an interview on Accra-based Citi FM on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, Basintale argued that the Energy Minister lacks the necessary qualifications for the role, citing a poor track record and allegations of arrogance.

As the election approaches, the endorsement of Dr. Opoku Prempeh is expected to shape the dynamics of the NPP’s campaign and influence voter sentiment.
