NPP Aims to Sweep All 47 Constituencies in Ashanti Region – Wontumi

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has set an ambitious goal for the party ahead of the 2024 general elections. Chairman Wontumi announced that the NPP intends to secure victory in all 47 constituencies in the Ashanti Region, a key stronghold for the party.

Speaking with confidence, Wontumi declared, “Our target to win all forty-seven constituencies is still in motion. We will have to deliver it.” His remarks underscore the NPP’s determination to maintain and strengthen its dominance in the region, historically known for its strong support for the party.

This ambitious target aligns with the expectations set by Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the vice-presidential candidate of the NPP, who emphasized the importance of achieving 85% of the vote in the Ashanti Region. Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, expressed confidence in the party’s ability to reach this goal, particularly with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the presidential candidate.

Addressing the Ashanti Regional Campaign Working Committee Meeting and Women’s Conference in Kumasi on Sunday, August 11, Napo highlighted the strategic advantage of having Dr. Bawumia on the ticket. He noted that Bawumia’s candidacy would not only mobilize support but also reinforce the NPP’s stronghold in the region.

“It is easier for the NPP to get 85% in the Ashanti Region with Bawumia as the presidential candidate than at any time in the history of the party,” Napo stated. He further emphasized that the NPP’s social interventions, including the Free SHS policy and National Health Insurance Scheme, would be better safeguarded under an NPP government.

The Ashanti Region has long been a bastion of support for the NPP, with the highest percentage of votes in a general election reaching 76.2%. As the party gears up for the 2024 elections, the NPP leadership is clearly focused on not just maintaining but expanding its influence in this crucial region.
