Veteran Ghanaian actor Fred Amugi has urged individuals to resist the temptation to flaunt their achievements on social media, warning that such behaviour can attract negative attention and signal overambition.

In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, Amugi emphasized the importance of humility and gratitude. He advised people to thank God for their successes and seek divine guidance instead of boasting about their accomplishments online.

“I want to tell people that no matter how successful you become, stay humble and grateful. Don’t boast about your achievements on social media; it’s a sign of over-ambition,” Amugi stated. He stressed that success is not solely a result of personal effort but also comes from the support of others and God’s blessings.

Amugi shared wisdom from his late director, Samuel Ansomenu, who quoted Beethoven: “When you become a star, don’t see yourself as one, and don’t call yourself one. Let others call you a star, because the moment you start seeing yourself as one, that’s the beginning of your downfall.”

Reflecting on his career, Amugi noted, “I’ve seen many people fall from grace because they forgot why they were successful in the first place. So, always stay humble and grateful.” He expressed his desire to be remembered as someone who lived a good life and made the most of his acting talent, highlighting that true happiness comes from living a humble and grateful life.

Beyond personal advice, Amugi lamented the lack of collaboration and cooperation within the Ghanaian film industry, attributing this disunity to the industry’s struggle to produce high-quality films that could compete internationally. He believes that greater unity and teamwork are essential for the industry’s growth and success on a global scale.
