Andre Ayew returns as Chris Hughton names squad for Madagascar and Comoros World Cup qualifiers

Black Stars coach Chris Hughton has released a 25-man squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers between Ghana and Madagascar.

The current list of players, mostly comprised of those based abroad, sees the return of captain Andre ‘Dede’ Ayew, who was not called up for the recent friendly matches. Additionally, Daniel Amartey from Besiktas has also made a comeback to the team after being sidelined due to injuries.

The 33-year-old Ayew was last included in the Black Stars squad for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Madagascar in June. However, his lack of activity at the club level over the past five months resulted in his exclusion from subsequent national team rosters.

Since leaving Nottingham Forest in July, Ayew has been without a club, leading to his omission from Ghana’s squads for matches against the Central African Republic (CAR), Liberia, Mexico, and the USA.

Nevertheless, according to reports from 3Sports, the captain of the Black Stars is set to make a remarkable comeback to the team ahead of this month’s World Cup qualifiers. The team, managed by Chris Hughton, will begin their World Cup qualifying campaign against Madagascar on November 17 in Kumasi, followed by an away match against Comoros just four days later.
